Getting Posted To CFB Halifax or 12 Wing Shearwater

Posted to CFB Halifax or CFB Shearwater?

Getting Posted in APS (Annual Posting Season) 2023

Getting posted is always a challenging time.  I know this.  I have been posted myself to CFB Edmonton, ASU Toronto, CFB Gagetown, and CFB Halifax.  Having done 4 inter-provincial moves with my family or by myself, I understand the stresses, the challenges, and the precision required to have an effective House Hunting Trip. There is a certain amount of value that can’t be replicated elsewhere when you work with me.  That stems from my experience in coordinating details with BGRS representatives, losing money on a move because my posting message wasn’t correct (& other lessons learned the hard way), and understanding the nuances of the latest CANFORGENS, IRP directives, and BGRS policies. This experience has been taken from a 13+ year career in the Regular Force with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and has been complemented by the fact I have worked at CFB Shearwater, the Dockyards, and CFB Halifax doing exercises or personnel administration. Simply put, I know the ins and outs of this area (Halifax) and how you can make this posting your best one yet.

If your CM (Career Manager) has indicated to you that you’re being posted to either CFB Halifax or CFB Shearwater this is what I would offer to you for setting yourself up for success:

  1. Reach Out to Me.  Seriously, you are already leaps and bounds ahead of others when you connect with me.  My intricate knowledge of both bases, routines, traffic flow, commute times, and surrounding communities is going to be a game-changer for you.

  1. Look at Viewpoint.  If you aren’t looking at www.viewpoint.ca then you need to start.  Viewpoint is a website (and brokerage here in NS) where you can see historical real estate transactional data.  This will enable you to see what homes are being listed for, selling for, and get a vibe or what the market here in Halifax is like.  **You will need to make an account on viewpoint.ca for this **

  2. Get set up. If you have a posting message and have your HHT dates approved from your CoC (chain of command) then click here to input your information and reserve your HHT with me asap!  I don’t double book HHT’s – I dedicate my entire time to you to help you when you get here (click here to see more on this).

“Having Don as a realtor in the current fast paced market was the difference maker in helping me purchase my first house. Don was on top of everything from the very beginning, ensuring everything moved as quick and smoothly as possible. Communicating every little detail back to me, as well as being there every single time I had any question or concern. He worked tirelessly to solve any issues that came up throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend using Don as a real estate agent.” – Hunter O – RCN – Source, Google

“My experience using Don as a realtor was top-notch. Don was attentive, knowledgeable and always maintained communication with me as we developed a plan. Also, his experience in the military was a huge benefit to me. He was familiar with our processes and able to provide advice throughout the sale. We made a plan and successfully accomplished the goal beyond what we expected. Give Don a call if you’re in the market for a home and want someone acting in your best interests.” – Katie B – RCAF – Source, Google

“If you have any real estate needs in this area, this is the guy you need to call. Period. Don helped us buy our home in Fall River, that met all of our wishes, on a SHORT timeline in this fall’s hot market. If you are a military member, Don knows all the ins and outs of the relocation program, and has all the right connections to get it done on your house hunting trip. When we had a question, Don got back to us immediately with an answer. Every time. He is an expert communicator, and a very hard-working knowledgeable professional man. He honestly genuinely cares that you are happy with his service, and is friendly and approachable. We definitely gained a new friend through this experience. Thanks Don!” – Scott P – RCAF – Source, Facebook
